Determination of the Self-Ignition Behavior of the Accumulation of Sludge Dust and Sludge Pellets from the Sewage Sludge Thermal Drying Station

Sewage sludge may pose a fire risk. The safe storage of biomass waste is challenge due to self-heating processes. This study aims assess the propensity spontaneously combust sewage in order determine and transport conditions. evaluation spontaneous ignition hazard was assessed according EN 15188, by determination self-ignition temperature. Certain parameters assumed affect inclination self-ignite, including moisture content, bulk density, elemental composition, particle size, were discussed. results showed risk during dust pellets. usage smallest basket volume resulted highest temperatures, which 186 °C 160 for pellets dust, respectively. comparison two forms thermally dry showed, that despite being easier store handle issues, more favorable conditions management terms dust. Its temperatures are slightly higher. highlighted future research should focus on hazards silo fires explosions prevention management.
